Student Council Speeches

Several of our students ran for student council positions today.  They gave their speeches to the student body before all of the students voted.  We will not find out the results of the election until Monday, but I am very proud of everyone who ran for an office.

Here are some of the candidates waiting to give their speeches.

Our principal, Mrs. LaFoy, and the student council chairperson, Mrs. Livingston, welcomed everyone to the speeches.

Joints

As you know, we have been studying the human body in science.  This week, we discussed that bones do not bend. It is the joints that do the bending.  To show how important our joints are, we used sticks and tape to make it difficult for students to use their joints.  Then, they had to perform different tasks.  It was a lot harder than they thought!

Our Skeletons

We have been studying the skeletal system the past two weeks.  Students worked on assembling their own skeletons yesterday.  We also welcomed our new student teacher, Miss Schofield, this week.  Here she is helping with the skeletons.

Mrs. Skagen helped with the skeletons, too.  We are very lucky to have so much help in our classroom.
The students are doing a great job with our "working snack" time.  They just continue working while they eat!

Math Grid

In math, we have been working on moving along a coordinate grid. With the help of a tarp and some masking tape, students were able to practice moving to different locations on our giant grid.  It is hard to see, but we had small pictures all over the grid.  Students would have to figure out how to move along the grid to get to the pictures.  Some pictures were the school, the hospital, McDonald's, Taco Casa and Wal-Mart.
