Welcome to our blog!

I am so excited that you are reading our classroom blog.  This is not really a place for classroom announcements.  Rather, this is where I will post pictures and write about what we are doing in the classroom.  I cannot put anything on here about the students until I receive all of the permission slips back that were in the green folder that I gave you at Open House.  So, I am going to use this post to tell you about myself.

I grew up in a small town called Wetumpka that is located about 15 minutes away from Montgomery.  My parents, Bob and Karen, still live and work there.  I have an older sister named Susan who works for the VA as a clinical psychologist in Birmingham.  I also have a younger brother named Steve who is the minister of First United Methodist Church of Verbena.

In 2000, I came to the University of Alabama to go to college.  I had no intention of living here forever.  Everything changed during my senior year, though.  I was placed at a tiny school that I had never heard of to do my internship.  I bet that you can guess the school!  I was placed in a second grade classroom with a teacher named Linda LaFoy.  During that placement, I decided that I would like to stay in Tuscaloosa if I could work at Buhl Elementary.

I graduated from college and accepted an offer to teach first grade at Northington Elementary.  It was a great year.  However, I knew that I wanted to change schools when an opening became available for a kindergarten spot at Buhl Elementary the next year.

During my first year as a kindergarten teacher at Buhl, I became very involved with a young adult ministry at First Wesleyan Church in Tuscaloosa.  Through that ministry, I met a guy named Joey Glasgow.  We began dating in 2005. Joey grew up in Tuscaloosa, and he is a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High.  He is an engineer for Mercedes.

We got married on June 14, 2008.
We welcomed our first son, Andrew, on August 15, 2010.
Our second son, also named Joey, was born on November 7, 2011.
This is my family on Easter Sunday at church.

Now, my boys are starting to grow up.  We celebrated Andrew's 2nd birthday with a Mickey Mouse party last weekend.
Joey is 9 months now, and he is into everything.  He is a sweet little boy.
I hope that you have enjoyed learning about me.  I look forward to getting to know all of you over this next year as well.
