From our STUDENT OF THE WEEK

"We have been working to get ready for the one mile run in P.E. Coach makes us run laps. I like running laps and playing on the playground. The other day, we had grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. We have been learning about similes. Similes are when you compare two things using LIKE or AS, so here are some similes about grilled cheese sandwiches.

The bread is as soft as a cloud.

The cheese is yellow like the sunshine.

The bread is as buttery as popcorn.

I like being in this class because sometimes we get to eat candy in class."

Antarctic Ice

The story for Lesson 21 in our reading series is titled, Antarctic Ice. There will be several questions about this story on their test. The test will be on Tuesday, March 27th. We have read and discussed the story in class. On Friday, students worked with a partner to read the story again. Ask your child about a rookery or how a penguin mother feeds her babies.

Welcome to our store!

We have been learning how to make change in math this week. Today, we created a classroom store. All of the students got a chance to be the customer and the cashier. They were thrilled that they actually got to keep the items that they bought! They each had $1.00 to use for shopping. Here are some of the things that were for sale.Figuring out the change:The cashier used the coins in our cash box to make change for the customer.

Reading Stations

Here is our word work station. Students play games with their spelling and vocabulary words. Our student teacher, Miss Gordon, works with a small group.

Another small group:

Look at our AWESOME work!

Here are some of the things that we have been working on. Students each had to create and illustrate a division story. Students had to represent geometric terms using popsicle sticks, yarn, and buttons.

Students had to create their own cities. Two streets had to be perpendicular, and two streets had to be parallel. Taco City...Ha Ha!

Hungry?

Come join our principal for breakfast on THURSDAY, MARCH 22ND in the library at 8:00.

Cookie Dough

Cookie Dough orders will be at the school on FRIDAY, MARCH 23RD!
Smaller orders will be sent home with students. If your order is larger than one or two items, please make sure to come by the school to pick them up. Orders will be at the school around 10:30.

From our STUDENT OF THE WEEK

"We are studying for the ARMT, and it is really hard. We got new math games. I played a game where you have to roll the dice and add up the numbers to try to get to 100. When you work hard, you get smarter!"

Would you read this?

Parents, I am thinking about starting a classroom blog. What do you think?
